In 2023, TikTok is one of the social media marketing tools used for business owners to create their brand visibility. Particularly, if you're a business owner that is trying to reach a specific audience, you shouldn't dismiss the app's expanding popularity.

What is TikTok Ads?

TikTok ads are promotional content that brands and creators pay to display TikTok content to specific audiences. Advertising on TikTok is a form of social media marketing, usually aimed at raising awareness of the advertiser or selling a particular product or service.

    Ads will appear as sponsored content on the “For You” page (#fyp).

    Ads appear as part of sponsored content created by a TikTok influencer

Here’s tips on how to make sure your ads are reaching their maximum potential:

  1. Attract audiences attention in the first three seconds.
    TikTok makes a suggestion that you will need to quickly capture your audience's interest by getting to the point quickly within the first three seconds. First, the thumbnail should be colorful, creative, and impressive to the audience. Second, the soundbite, usually audiences will hear a music or voice over that grab their attention. Third, the opening visual, follow the soundbite with a good & creative shot to draw your audiences in.
  2. Follow TikTok's guidelines for images and videos.
    Audiences may ignore your advertisement if it doesn't look like it belongs on TikTok and is blurry or doesn't quite fit the screen. To increase your chances of success, adhere to the image and video specifications. Ensure that any images or videos content are original creations, properly licensed, or under fair use guidelines. Also, avoid nudity, violence, hate speech, and other prohibited content.
  3. Jump on Popular TikTok Trends
    If you want to increase your chances of going viral, pay attention to trending audio clips, challenges and video types, and you can use a popular trend to create a video that's relevant to your business. You should stay up-to-date and keep an eye on the “Discover” page and the “For You” feed to identify popular trends that align with your brand or product. Moreover, you can create a unique hashtag challenge specifically for your ad campaign so that you encourage audiences to participate and share their content using the hashtag. Also, continuously monitor the performance of your ad campaign using popular trends.
